Locksbrook, Bath Spa University, ba1 3el

Scattered throughout this building are items of ‘lost property’ which have been left by members of the public on trains and stations throughout the Southwest of England. They were found, logged and held onto for three months by the GWR Lost Property office in Bristol Temple Meads station waiting to be ‘claimed’ by their owners through MissingX.com. However, these belongings were never claimed, so for now they are biding time posing as ‘found objects’ in this exhibition before being taken to charity shops, recycling centres or landfill.

This exhibition forms part of enclothed practiced based research exploring the sense of belonging in how we experience, communicate, collect, archive and exhibit our wearing relationships. The viewer is invited to reflect on what it means to have, hold and lose items of clothing and whether clothes belong to us or we belong to clothes?

Look for the exhibits with red labels on the ground floor, mezzanine level and 2nd floor where the ‘X‘, ‘O‘ and ‘*‘ mark the spots on the map. Check in at reception, grab a paper map, pop into the shop, peek inside the disabled toilet, stroll down the ‘Street’, read a book, be seated in the lecture theatre or climb the stairs and perch outside the fashion studios…take the lift up to the top floor and climb the stairs back down again. See the twenty ‘lost’ exhibit facts and fabulations below and go exploring…

Lost Property Vitrine

19 JAN – 2 FEB 2026

Anarchiving Apparel

These historic items are selected from the clothing collection at Frome Museum. They have little provenance, yet collectively they are able to ‘show and tell’ past wearing stories from the 1800’s and 1900’s. This vitrine acts as a ‘repertory of traces’ (Massumi, 2016) curated to allow historic items of clothing a voice in contemporary conversations. The viewer is invited to imagine how these items might be worn to tell new other, untold and unknown enclothed life stories in the future.
